We hope you will join us for this event, designed by Native Americans and Quakers in Boulder, Colorado. When we enter the workshop area, we will hear flute music playing from a CD by world-renowned Navajo musician, R. Carlos Nakai. Our meeting space will have become Turtle Island, the name given by some native peoples to what we now call the United States. We will begin by meeting our four speakers: the European, the Historian, the Native American and the Narrator. Each of these speakers has a story to share, a part of our history to relate. We will be on Turtle Island, as they move us swiftly through 500 years of shared history, leaving us with a greater understanding of what we were and are, and perhaps planting seeds of ideas for improvement and change. At the end of the speakers’ section, we will have time to discuss our reactions, and receive a seed of Mandan corn, the same corn that was grown in Native communities.
